Luca Mais - Pianist and Dance accompanist

Since September 2007 LM is Pianist and Teacher and Consultant for the Vienna Staatsoper
Theatre Ballet Company.

He graduated in 2000 in dance accompaniment at La Scala Theatre in Milan, since then LM began
an intense artistic activity that quickly led him to cooperate successfully with the most important
figures of the Ballet world and the most important national dance schools such as the Ballet School
of Balletto Teatro di Torino, National Academy of Dance in Rome and Ballet School of Teatro Alla
Scala in Milano.

Since 2007, LM works in Vienna for the Opera Theatre (Staatsoper), where in addition to a cooperation with prestigious Maîtres de Ballet, internationally renowned soloists, music conductors and the famous Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, he is often chosen as live pianist for première and some of the most important performances of the Theatrical season ( Mayerling-Liszt, Glow Stop-P-Glass, Petite Mort-Mozart ).

He is often invited to participate as a pianist in major international events like the Premio Roma 2007,
he played for programs broadcast on Rai 1 and on Austrian televisions ORF 2, ATV and 3Sat.
LM has developed for dance lessons his personal style of improvisation, based on modern harmonies and minimalist "rhythmic" silences, in which the sound colour and atmosphere often take the place of the melody, surrounding the weight and movements of the dancers and eliminating the defect of music repetitiveness and predictability of the tonal system commonly used in the traditional dance schools.

LM likes to change frequently, however, the style of accompaniment depending on the level of the dancers and their gender, on the method of the maitre de ballet and the atmosphere created during a lesson, and often he enjoys inserting quotations and themes drawn from classic music, jazz, new age, pop music, soundtracks and commercials.

LM, artistically known as LUMAS, is also a composer and has just released the album Piano 2012, a Neoclassical / New Age record where piano, together with orchestral and electronic synthesizers, creates evocative atmospheres accompanying the listener in dream-like journeys to discover new Worlds and Dimensions.
